Ermias is a fast-moving consumer brand whose existing website wasn't telling the story the business was actually capable of telling. The site loaded slowly, the mobile experience was awkward, and the product narrative was buried under generic e-commerce template chrome. The team wanted a website that felt like the brand — confident, opinionated, distinct — and that loaded fast enough for the audience to actually stay on the page. Makreate was brought in to redesign and rebuild the site from scratch.
Our discovery focused on three things: what the brand actually stood for (we ran a positioning sprint with the founders), what their best customers said about them (we read every review and ran short interviews with five repeat buyers), and what the data said (we instrumented the old site for two weeks, captured the funnel, and watched where the drop-offs actually were). The reality was less complicated than the brief suggested. The brand had a strong, specific voice in WhatsApp and Instagram replies — but none of that voice survived the trip to the website. The fix was less a redesign and more a translation.
We anchored the new site on three principles. First, every page should feel like the brand is talking to you directly — first person, specific, no e-commerce-template platitudes. Second, the hero of every page is the product, photographed honestly. Third, page weight has a budget — the home page would load in under 1.5 seconds on a mid-tier Android phone over 4G, or it didn't ship.
The new site is a fully custom build — no off-the-shelf theme, no page-builder bloat. We designed a flexible component system (hero, product grid, founder note, review wall, FAQ, CTA) that the team can recombine to build new pages without touching code. Copy was rewritten end-to-end with the founders in the room. Photography was re-shot for consistency. We migrated everything onto a fast static-first architecture with serverless functions only where genuinely needed (cart, checkout, transactional emails). Analytics, GTM, and conversion tracking were instrumented from day one.
The biggest win wasn't a single metric — it was that the brand finally sounded like itself online. Internally, the team has been able to ship new pages and campaigns without needing the agency in the loop, which is the real measure of a good handover. The site loads inside the budget on every page, and the support team reports they're spending less time answering questions the website now answers up-front.
