Frequently asked
How does this work without uploading my file?
Your PDF is opened with WebAssembly libraries that run inside your browser tab. Each page is rendered to a JPEG at the chosen DPI, then a new PDF is rebuilt in memory. Nothing is sent to a server.
Why does the output look like images instead of selectable text?
The "Strong" and "Recommended" presets re-encode each page as a JPEG, which gives the biggest size savings. If you need to keep selectable text, choose "Light" — it uses higher DPI and produces a more faithful copy.
What's the file size limit?
Around 200 MB in most browsers. Very large or complex PDFs may take longer; processing time scales with the number of pages.
Will it work for scanned PDFs?
Yes. Scanned PDFs are already images, so re-encoding them at a lower DPI typically yields a large size reduction.
